PARENTS: THE ANTI-DRUG MAY 20TH 7:00 P.M. (LIGHT DINNER AT 6:30) HENRY M. JACKSON HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY “Just say no” isn’t enough to keep teens from using drugs. Conventional wisdom says teens use substances for pleasure, but research shows us those who become substance abusers are most often battling feelings of emptiness and helplessness. At this workshop parents will explore what makes teens particularly vulnerable to seeking drugs to cope with adolescence. Participants of this class will better situate themselves to assist their teen in safely navigating the choppy waters of the teen years. This workshop will be presented by Project SAFE, a program of Cocoon House. Please invite your friends and neighbors! year our PTSA gives Golden Acorn Awards to people who have given
exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school
community. The Golden Acorn Award is very special and is given
for continued and dedicated service. This is an excellent way to
honor PTSA members for their contributions to our community.
The Outstanding Educator Award was created by PTSAs to recognize individuals who have provided outstanding educational opportunities for children and youth that are beyond the normal scope of their jobs. An educator can be but is not limited to being a teacher, and can include specialists, support staff, administrators or community members. Check out Flamingo Flocking Season! Surprise someone
with a front yard full of
bright, pink flamingos! For a donation, you can have a flock of
flamingos migrate to just about any residential front lawn. When you
order flocking, members of the Flamingo Flocking crew, the "Flockers",
will deliver approximately 15 birds to unsuspecting yards to where they
have been directed to roost, usually arriving unnoticed in the cloak of
darkness. Imagine the priceless look on someone's face when they
discover the brilliant colored flamingos taking sanctuary at their
home! The flamingo flocking recipient will be left with an explanation,
care instructions, and the number to the Flamingo Rescue Hotline. The
Flockers will remove the birds within 48 hours.
